Written by Kris
Thursday, 20 May 2010

One of our favorite promotions is back this weekend!  Receive a Creative Options File Tub absolutely free with the purchase of $60.00 of Regularly Priced Merchandise May 21-23. These tubs, a $16.99 value, are 17"x15"x5" and a favorite of our staff and customers because of the secure ProLatch locking lid closures and the ability to hold hundreds of embellishments and sheets of 12x12 paper. Constructed of acid-free and archival safe material, they are even perfect for the storage of completed albums!  Not only are they fantastic for storing your scrapbook, sewing, or quilting supplies, they are great for under-the-bed storage, keeping things neat and clean in your garage or car, or organizing anything in your house!  There is no limit on how many you can earn, but they will only be available while supplies last.  Shop early so that you don’t miss out on this incredible deal!

CHA Summer 2009 Report: Tuesday
Written by Kris
Tuesday, 28 July 2009

CHA officially opened this morning and our first stop was at Bo Bunny.  Along with a nice selection of their new themed offerings and new colors of double dot papers, we made the decision to add blue and red to the chipboard alphabets and albums that we currently carry.  We then headed over to WeRMemoryKeepers.  We added several new album colors and page protector choices along with selections of their new themed lines. We were impressed with some of their awesome tools, including a cool rotary cutter pack.  They had lots of new Dollar Stamps as well. We picked up lots of fun papers and stickers from Moxxie and a cute little calendar kit.  All of you Technique Tuesday fans will be excited to hear that after a short recess, we will be bringing back some of their quality stamps (Ali Edwards fans will love her stamps) and Technique Tiles into the store as well as two awesome class kits for September and October.  The Robin's Nest has added Tear Drops to their popular Dew Drop embellishments and, as always dazzled us with their glitter papers.  The new Tattered Angels Halloween Book Class will thrill our devoted Tattered Angels students.  Watch for it in late September or October.  I think it's the best one yet!  Of course, we got all of their new Glimmer Mist colors along with all of the new chip tiles, and a sampling of their Bingo cards and stamps.  Imaginisce, as always, had some of the cutest lines we saw.  We loved the boy line so much, we ordered the entire line, and almost all of the others.  We also ordered every single Dollar Stamp they offered. We passed by My Mind's Eye and agreed after seeing it in person that we had made a wise choice to preorder the entire booth (should be arriving at the store sometime next week!)  We loaded up on new stacks and embellishments from another of our favorites, Diecuts with a View.  We ended our day with a visit to Basic Grey, where we ordered all of the packs, almost all of the papers, and a good deal of the embellishments, bling and stamps.

We uploaded over 100 pictures on Facebook showing products and samples. Be sure to check them out at www.facebook.com.

Here are the sales for Wednesday, July 29, 2009:

25% off all merchandise from the Manufacturers mentioned above!

Remember, if you live out of town, you can still take advantage of our sales.  Simply call the store (319) 354-0432 (or email it to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) with your order and credit card and we will be glad to ship it out to you, charging only the actual shipping cost.

CHA Summer 2009 Report: Monday
Written by Kris
Monday, 27 July 2009

We had another great day in Orlando today.  Everyone here is asking why they chose to have a convention in Orlando in July!  We just finished our busy day of preshows, which are receptions that usually involve some type of yummy food, put on by manufacturers to get you to spend your $ on their products before the show even begins!  They are usually very fun and relaxing.

We did some major buying today from Creative Imagination, SEI and Stampin' Station.  We purchased new travel papers and stickers, new custom school papers and albums, new wine papers and stickers, and more from Stampin' Station.  Although we didn't take any pictures at Stampin' Station, you'll definitely want to head over to our Facebook page and check out some photos and sneak peeks of what will soon be heading to the store from SEI and Creative Imaginations.  If you haven't already signed up for Facebook, be sure to go to www.facebook.com.  It's a great way to stay connected with family and friends, and now your favorite businesses and celebrities too!  It's quick and easy to set up.  By becoming a fan of Memories on Fifth you can get frequent updates and special sales.

To make room for all of these new goodies, we will be posting specials every night based on the companies we order from each day.  Here are the specials for Tuesday, July 28, 2009:

Creative Imagination's Creative Cafe:  40% OFF!
All Food, Calendar (excludes 12x12 blank calendars), Halloween, Christmas, Birthday and School items from Creative Imagination: 25% OFF!
All SEI products:  30% OFF!
All Stampin' Station products including Custom School Papers and Albums 15% OFF!

If you need any help locating these products in our store, be sure to ask.

Watch for more specials tomorrow!

Memories on Fifth's Breakfast Bash!
Written by Kris
Thursday, 25 June 2009

Join us for breakfast this Saturday, June 27, 2009, anytime between 10:00 a.m. and Noon for our first Memories on Fifth Breakfast Bash!  Kris, Patty, and Lynn will offer several mini classes for a small fee.  No registration is necessary.  Simply take a look around our classroom while you enjoy breakfast and sit down at a chair if you see something you would like to make, or take a number if the booth is full.  Payment should be made in cash at the booth.  Each class will be a cute project that will teach a new technique or showcase a product.  Bring your own class kit of adhesive, trimmer, and scissors to avoid having to share.

MK Embossing will be here with samples of their work and to take orders.  They offer foil imprinting in a variety of fonts and colors for embossing photo or scrapbook album covers and spines with any personal message. Foil imprinting is a process where a colored foil is adhered to a product by the use of heat and pressure. This is the same process that scrapbook manufacturers use to stamp bordered edges onto the covers, but on a much smaller scale.  I’ve been using them for years to add the name and date to my albums and have been thrilled with their professional service!

Simply bring in the album cover or spine that you would like embossed along with what you would like it to say. It's a classy way to add personalization and an elegant flair to your photo or scrapbook album covers.

Michele will take your cover or spine back to her shop and return them to the store to be picked up.  If you’ve already had albums embossed and would like to match them, please bring them along as a sample.  For more information and pricing, visit their website at: www.mkembossing.com

We had hoped to introduce the new QuicKutz Die Cutting Tool, the Epic Six.  However, QuicKutz has moved the date back for delivery, so we will be unable to demonstrate it for you.  You can still take advantage of our unbelievable preorder price of $59.99 (that's $30 off the manufacturers suggested price!) until Tuesday, June 30.  As a bonus, you will also receive a rebate from QuicKutz for an exclusive 6x6 or 6x8 Epic Die valued at over $20.00!

The Epic is the newest tabletop tool from QuicKutz, surpassing every die-cutting tool they've released before in size and scope. The Epic also beats every competing tool in quality and performance. It both cuts and embosses all QuicKutz products as well as all other leading brand dies and embossing folders, making it the most versatile and efficient machine on the market.

Here are some of the Exciting features of the Epic 6:

  • It cuts and embosses
  • It's compatible with all QuicKutz and other leading brand dies
  • It's ideal for scrapbooking, card making, home decor and other craft projects.
